Applying mods

Sounds like a dumb question, but how do you apply the mods?
I downloaded a mod that gives you an extra ship, the boba fett mod, but I cant find out where to put the files. I have tried putting copies where i think they should go, but no joy, any suggestions please?

Extract the files to a new folder on your desktop and rename the folder the same name as the .mod extension.
Download and install FLMM (Freelancer Mod Manager) and then put the folder with the mod files into the FLMM program's directory with the other mods.

The mod should show up in the list, select activate and wait for it to give you the all clear. Launch freelancer and go enjoy the new ship. Also read the comments below the mod, you need to rename a file to get it recognised......Or I could just copy everything from there seeing as I have the page still open :

- SmokeRingHalo
Had to rename the file extension from .zip.fl to just .zip - unzip with winzip into its own new folder for mod manager to recognize it. After doing all that it works. Awesome model - though doesn't land like slave 1 - too many gun ports and way to overpowered, armor etc. But I still love the model. [quote

Or just install FLMM and click "open" when you click the download link (or just save the *.zip.flmod file to whereever, and double-click on it).
