server list shows wrong ip

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

I've found that if your machine has multiple IP addresses assigned to its network devices (be it multiple IP's on one interface, multiple interfaces, etc.) the server browser will pretty much pick one of the server's IP addresses at random...

For example, my server has the IP addresses 66.238.194.140, 192.168.0.85, and 192.168.1.85. Any one of those IP addresses will be the one reported on the server list, it appears. For me locally, this isn't a problem, but for others it can be. If you get the wrong IP address, just try refreshing the server list; that seems to change the IP address my clients receive.

24/7 admin dude

(singion or summit simular if i recall)

can you post the current IP here on the forum
and then we can try and connect directly as opposed to via the global server.

cheers

I have noticed something similar.

On mine....It will display my Network IP....When I log into my server...and the other computer on my network will display the same IP.

When a friend of mine logs on..not in my network...it displays my IP address provided by my ISP.....

I think when you log on locally (Possibly if behind a router) it will display the local IP first, whethor or not you log on via lan or Internet...When you log on remotely, it will display the IP provided by the ISP.

Just an observation.

yup thats how it works here
I checked it on differend computers
since my wife is on the same router the server list shows my lan ip and since my father in law is before the router he sees the router ip in the server list
All works fine for everyone though
