My Server for Freelancer

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

My Server for Freelancer

I am debating on opening up my Freelancer server for usage by anyone who wants to join it....But I have one thing that is holding me back.

What are the most common ways to see if someone is cheating. I want a cheat free server. I want to know some of the common things to look for.

I will be very strict on cheaters...like some other people that maintain hosts are.

I will have a password...if you want to join, email me at [email protected]

Also, since I like this forum...Who do I beg to be a TLR Affiliated Server?

lol

It's pretty hard to tell who is cheating, since you do not get log files. Really, the only way to tell is if a new player joins your server and then they are already level 38.

Ok

If there is no way other then the level thing...Maintaining a cheat free server shouldn't be too hard.

I'm not going to go so far as to say that you must have an account on TLR to play....But I would recommend it...cuz this site is L33T (To coin a phrase)

I have thought about this also.

Though that crappy server program dont show any stats from the server (only names). Basically I have to go the server and check, but even that dont help me to know who is cheating.

Some players give money to others so that they could buy better ship. Then this player with his new shiny Humpback runs couple Diamond garcos and pays back the money. I dont see anything wrong about that. But because of this there is no telling who is cheating, right?

I can see the distinction here...and the most obvious is the fact that if a player is given money like that, then that's ok...as long as they aren't given enough to make them lvl 38....But not sure how excatly that could be enforced...

Hmmm...Food for thought...Find a way to prevent transfers of over a certain amount....Might be something that would have to be coded by someone who knows what they are doing, maybe even DA, or something...

Set something like ATMs...where you have a withdrawal limit per day....so that you can only transfer a certain amount to another player every day....say...no more then 50k/server day.....To make it not worth transferring that much....

That would make it not worth it to transfer a lot of money to level someone up....

Wouldn't be bad, but right now a legit player can hit level 38 in about 3 hours. So they would have to fix this issue first.

Level 38 in 3 hours. How do you do that? Am still stuck on Argo server in Rheinland been killed so many times or robbed trying to make trade runs that I have given up. Combat jobs even though is good at xx,xxx is not worth it if you get killed in less than 2 minutes being swarmed by 8-10 fighters. For those who think that MP is easy are full of BS. Am not used to mouse in game that should be using Joystick like my Thurst Master.

i think with the $2000 start money anyone who gets to lvl 38 in less than 5hrs has cheated with money. or been given it

the real trick to lvling fast is to get netural with the rouges/red hess and corsairs
etc all your red baddies this takes a few hrs if you only have the standard ship from the start.... then you can go starttrade

but if given 25kplus you can get a nice ship that will sort this out much faster

imo there is no way to stop modders/cheats unless you are going to sit on your server watching every boddy login at lvl1 then check them again 30 mins later to see them lvl 38

i find most of the cheaters wont reply to you when you asked them how they lvled so fast.. so i just ban them for being ignorant to the console...or did coz i have now given up trying to administer my server for cheats
there is simply to many...all that will happin is that they make the server unstable so it bombs out and i will stop hosting the poor flserver sooner or later for some other game.....

well thats not true.....in the spoiler section it is described how it is possible using some special trade routes....i havent tried it coz i dont have the game yet (i live in germany and have to wait 3 more weeks) but it seems to be possible.
