I used to hang on global servers. I know I use a router...but the funny thing is the other PC's are all fine...

If you hang try this :

Run the DirectX diagnostics in your DirectX directory (in program files most probably).

On the Network Tab all my Direct Play entries were broken (errored)

I re-installed directX (from the Freelancer CD) and hurrah it all works.
