MP - disconnected when trying to repair ship or change compo

I played for about 10 hrs straight (on the Emerald City server) and got a sabre and picked up some Nomad weapons. When I went to Planet Malta to get more supplies, I was going to change my weapons to the Nomad ones that I got. If I try removing a component or reparing parts (there's 15 things needing repairs), then I will get a message saying that I the connection to the server has been lost or the server crashed. So now I'm stuck with 2 level 4 guns, 2 level 9 guns, 2 level 10 guns, and a level 6 turret. The level 9 and 10 guns suck up power fast and i would really like to use the nomad weapons however i keep getting disconnected when I try to change the components. I can exit the base and fly to another base and the game will work fine.

BTW, to clarify, I will get the "Disconnect" message maybe a minute or two later. Or if I click on the icon to go to the Bar after changing something, then I will get the message that says "it is taking longer than expected" and then I will get the disconnected message.

Then the game will crash about half of the time. If it doesn't , then I can't reconnect to the same server (the ping will show up as ???).
If I exit the game and launch the game again, then I can join the server again. So I know that the server didn't go down. (especially when people are on it when I join).

Has anyone else experienced this? Where can I report this bug to the game developers or Microsoft?

Update: I was able to change some weapons by going to my inventory screen but the problem still occurs since I haven't switched all my weapons nor repaired them yet.

Yes, i have posted somthing simla.... i get disconnected when i go in to space, and no it aint my inet conn, i triyed playing on lan same thing, and i know there is nothing rong with my lan it took lots of $$$ to set up a wiless lan and 2 get it workign took a lot of time.

I have the same pb here, nearly impossible to buy/sell/equip weapon or ship.
As soon as i do one of these, i got disconnected from the server and sometimes i lose my money and i don't get the stuff i tried to buy. I've already tried to bought a new ship many times but i always got disconnected, lost my money, and don't get the new ship (lost 50000 already).
I really hope that a patch will correct this or else i won't ba able to play MP.

The problem is no more for me, I started a new game in solo and did a few missions.
When I tried again in MP mode, everything got back to normal.
I don't know if i was lucky, but now i'm relieved that everything works fine.

Hope you'll be lucky too...

I notice that I lose money when I try to repair my ship, but nothing gets repaired.

I've seen that exact problem (losing money and getting booted from the server when attempting to repair).

Turned out that a router firmware update fixed the problem. The problem could be on either end, though, so the server might be the one with issues.

MasCalaveras, did you always have that problem from the very beginning that you started multiplayer? I was able to play for 10 hrs and during that time I bought weapons, armor, and traded items with the computer. When I got the Nomad weapons this problem started occurring.

I updated my firmware just now and the problem still occurs. Maybe it has something to do with my carrying too many unused weapons (only like 15 weapons total including those that are mounted).

I sold some of my excess weapons and equipment, and then I was able to repair my ship and change components. Later, I picked up more components from blown up ships and had the same problem. Once I sold them, though, I wouldn't be disconnect when i switched components.

Maybe the server has something to do with it, too, though. My guess is that when I change components a lot of data is sent and the server chokes. Maybe the other players are in battles and that bogs the server down.

I tried this on 3 other server and the same thing happens--whenever I have too much in the inventory and I try to mount a gun or repair the ship, then I will get disconnected.

u found an answer?
i have my own server here! and the same problem!
everytime i am on high level ( mean titan or something with class 10 weapons )
the server crashes when i want to log in with that account!
sometimes i can play a few sec - than again CRASH!
firstime a started new, with a new account - no credits....
no i dont want to!
MS : SOMEONE HAS TO FIX THAT !!!

When I saw this, it was only after accumulating a bunch of equipment, which is consistent with what has been reported here. The firmware update fixed it for me.
