Fix for LAN/Internet Crash

Okey everyone of you who has been having problems with the Freelancer LAN/Internet Crash BUG.....

For those who crash when trying to join a LAN/Internet game, we have finaly found a way to fix this problem. Howerver, many of you will not like this fix .
After about 8 hours of taring in and out hardwear and beating windows to death we found that one of windows newer patchs is screwing up some of us. What we did was reinstall windows without patching any thing. This fixed it, for those who dont want to do this you can use the windows restore and try and back up till it works. Im sure some day there will be a patch for this but it you really want to play online this is a quick fix.

Hope this will help you all out....

Something doesn't seem right here... LAN works here (well, at least with myself - haven't actually played a true Multiplayer game), and this Windows is SP1 with all the later package. I'm sure what you're saying works - it just doesn't make sense. The next question is why does it mess up some computers and not others?

You are right, it doesnt make any sence .... but then this is microsoft we are talking about

At first I thought it was SP1 for XP or SP3 for 2k... After some playing around I found that this was not the case. I have a feeling it may have been one of the security patchs using the windows auto update. This may not affect everyone, I think it has somthing to do with some kind of conflict with some part of our windows. Never the less, it had to have been one of the windows updates because i tryed patching, and after it would not work, then i rolled back to before patching and it worked ageain... Thank god for XP roll back restore

If you use windows udate, add security patches one at a time. When it stops working you know which one it was. You don't have to do a roll back, just go to 'add/remove programs' in Control Panel and remove the hotfix that way.
