Multiplayer with DSL & LAN-Connection via ICS ?

I am using two computers on my LAN.

My main computer got two networking adapters. One to connect to my DSL-Modem and the other one for my LAN.

When I'm running a server on this computer I can join it from all computers on my LAN, but when one of my friends tries to connect via the global server or by using fldirectip.hta, he just can't connect. My server also won't show up on the global serverlist.

I thought that he can't reach my computer and so he pinged me successfully.

I am using the Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) of Windows XP and maybe this blocks the required ports for the game.

If anyone has suggestions how to fix this problem, please do so.
I'm really desperate at the moment, because I'm working on this problem for days.

Thanks in advance,

See if the VI.Additions, Corrections and Known Issues section in the readme file helps.

Well, I checked the Readme as i did before and it says this:

Freelancer uses the DirectPlay protocol for client/server communications. Therefore, the game client should work through most Network Address Translation (NAT) routers and works with the Windows 2000/XP Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) feature without requiring a configuration change. Special steps (described below) are required when using ICS on Windows 98/Me.

So it should work with my ICS system on Windows XP.

Any other ideas ?

Thanks,

I haven't worked with the FLServer, but does it differentiate between LAN and Internet configurations? Most likely the FLServer is setup and listening on your LAN network only. So its not reachable on the Internet. Your best bet is set it up to run on the Internet, then use the Internet option on your home PC's to connect. You will still get the benefit of your lan speed because the FL server is running on the ICS machine.

I found this in the readme-file:

If you are experiencing issues with dropping network connections or a lack of ability to connect to Freelancer servers, please attempt the following:
o Exit Freelancer and ensure that you have a functional network / Internet connection.
o Disable the device that is not providing your Internet connection and try again.

Maybe that would work, but this way my LAN pals would not be able to connect to my server. There has to be another way to do this.

Does anybody know a way to select DSL-ethernet adapter as the primary networking adapter which is then used by Freelancer instead of the LAN-network adapter ?

I really don't want to buy a network Hub just to play this game the way I want to.

Thanks for any help and thanks for the help you already gave me.
