Garbled desktop on exit

When ever i exit Freelancer i my desktop changes to a wierd garbled graphic, the only way to fix it is to log out (pressing the Window button the, up, Enter, and Enter again(or is that go to sleep, i don't know)) and then log back in again. Is there anyway to fix this so my desktop doesn't go all wierd on exit?

It's a problem with Geforce4 cards with AntiAliasing enabled. I like the way AA looks so I have a trick. I put an icon in the corner of my desktop that launces another game (no CD required). I click where the icon should be on the garbled screen and it launches the program. Exit back to desktop and everyting is normal.

I have the same problem. stupid Microsoft. I haven't tried the desktop icon thing yet, but i'll try that and disabling AA. Doesn't make much difference on my system anyway. But this is a serious issue that Microsoft should of taken care of before they released the game and hopefully it will be addressed in a future patch. I think i'll go complain to them now.

This is what I do cause I have the same problem. As soon as I start the game and I goto the main menu I alt tab ( yes you will get the messed up screen) then I alt tab back to flancer. Then all works fine =) Im gonna switch off aa and just run a higher res =)

I got this dumb problem too. Don't know what it is abotu until I saw this. I usually just go to the area where I know my Counterstrike icon is and go into it and exiting it to get the desktop back to normal.

I have just managed to solve my problem now. I installed Nividia's latest drivers, the version 41.09 graphics drivers. No more of the garbled desktop anymore.

I have the 41.09 drivers and it still does it for me.

I have the WHQL 40.72 drivers and I have no problem with a garbled desktop. I have a GF4 Ti4400.. Odd occurance here.. some things work for some that doesn't for others.

I have the 41.09 drivers as well. For those of you that don't have the problem, have you actually ENABLED AA in the advanced display properties? cus by default on MX440's it's turned off (not sure about the Ti's) and the problem doesn't occur if it's turned off.
But i did manage to fix mine so that i can use AA. I had it set to Quincunx AA, and i turned it up to 4x and it started working, no idea why.
Doing this might fix everyone elses, you'll have to try.

Yep, done some research... On my system it crashes wit 2x or Quincunx AA enabled, if i set it to any kind of 4x AA, it works just fine...
