Is it possible to play multiplayer by yourself? I tried starting up FLServer and connecting to it in the LAN screen but it doesn't show up.

Yes, it is. I tried this and it worked. I just used FLSERVER to get it running, then started the game and selected LAN like you. Give it a second to show up. If it doesn't, maybe something's wrong.

Did you install Direct X 9?

Yes...what would DirectX 9 have to do with it?

you can't connect to multiplayer games without it.. you get an error msg

I've got DirectX 9 installed and it still doesn't work for some reason. Anyone know why?

I tried it but found that unless you had an active working LAN connection that the server would not show up. I had to connect my Xbox to my computer and made sure I could ping it, then I tried running the server again and I could then see it in the client.
