CRASH!!!!

Same story, another person suckered into to getting some piece of **** game thats gonna be resting under my beer next to my computer soon. Experiencing problems ONLY in MULTIPLAYER, game crashes everytime I go to internet or lan, I click it, shows the outline of the boxes, sits there, freezes. More than half the time I do manually reboot. I have done everything microsofts page recommends to fix this problem, unfortuantely as usual another game company provides vague help. CAN ANYONE FIX THIS PROBLEM OR IS IT JUST ANOTHER COASTER LIKE THOSE DAMN AOL DISKS I GET ALL THE TIME IN THE MAIL??? Any info would be appreciated.

AMD T-Bird 1 Gighertz
528 MB RAM(PNY)
ATI Radeon 9000 Pro(128)
80 GB 7200Rpm Western Digital HDD
Abit KT-7Raid motherboard
Soundblaster Live!
RR Cable modem thru linksys router

I can't help but one piece of advice: don't blame the game when it's your computer that has issues. You wouldn't blame the fuel when your car has a flat tire, would you?

Evening,
I've been lurking for a few days - same problem. Every time I load up the multiplayer <lan or internet> it locks up, sound loops and then I need to hard bounce my pc.
It makes me sad. I womped the single player pretty quickly and I'd like to get mplayer working - I've freed my ports as per the ms stuff - that didn't do anything, so I just bypassed my router...nope, same thing. Reinstalled - same thing.
Any t/sing or potential fixes would be appreciated.

WinXP Pro SP1
sb audigy xgamer
Geforce 3 running the most recent quattro/detonator drivers
standard network setup - nothing really special.

Thanks

I posted this message to see if other people have the same problem and for a possible solution, "dont blame the game, blame your computer"LOL, i'm not blaming the game, i'm pist off at the people who made it. When I go to the store and buy a game from any company, I expect for it to work like any other cosumer that has a job and works for his money. I don't give flying **** who made the ****ing game, get on the ball and fix the problem many many people are having. People we call, "techs", that run a department called, "tech support", need to do a job and start working on the problem unless they are already. No offense intended Lev

I've got the same problem but it doesn't force me to reboot just as soon as you click Multiplayer internet or Lan it crashes to the desktop Singlplayer runs fine. I've got all the latest drivers and dx9. Running Win2k, with Geforce 3, and soundblaster audigy.

Hi, I had this problem and found it to be my firewall. I was using zonealarm. I found I had to enable it for freelancer to use internet before going into the game otherwise it would crash. If you use a software/hardware firewall I'd suggest disabling it first to see if it is that thats causing the problem and if it is then having a tinker.
