3d Capable video card???

I try to play the game and an error keeps coming up saying "freelancer did not detect a 3d capable video card on your system....". I have an abit geforce 3 and it had no problem with the demo. I have direct x 9 installed and all the latest drivers. i have followed microsofts prompts on how to fix it but none of these seem to resolve the problem. Can any one help?

I had already got latest driver. So i went into dxdiag and my direct3d test was failing on test no.8 (the second one). so i turned off direct 3d. Freelancer still didnt work (no suprise there). So i enabled the direct 3d again. NOW IT WORKS!!!!. I have no idea why turning direct 3d off then on again helped. So i'm happy now.

Please post suggestion anyway. I'm having the same problem and have tried numerous workarounds to get freelancer running but no luck so far. Here's the specs:
Dell Dimension 4550
Pentium 4 2.00 GHZ
Windows 2000 Server (i know...i know... that may be the problem right there)
NVidia GeForce4 MX 420 (i've tried with nvidia xp/2000 40.72 and 41.79 drivers) with 384 MB of RAM and 64 MB on the chipset
Direct X 9.0

When I run dxdiag "Display" I'm able to pass all direct Draw tests but when trying Direct3d acceleration tests I get the following errors:

Direct3D 7 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x887602eb (error code)
Direct3D 8 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x8007000e (Out of memory)
Direct3D 9 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x8007000e (Out of memory)

I've tried everthing I can think of including upgrading the bios on the system and am going to have to just ship it back to MS for a refund if I don't get it up and running soon.

thanks in advance.

How much RAM do you have Roland?? And also what do you have set for your virtual memory?
