More problems

When i try to play Freelancer, the intro plays and then after the FREELANCER-logo, the game "ALT+TAB"s out to desktop, and i can't get in the game again, though the icon of the game shows up down in the "activity-field" in Windows (or whatever it name is in english). The game worked just fine until i tinkered with some mods (silly me) for the game, so now it won't work at all... I have tried with everything , like re-installing the game, re-installing DX9and deleting all register files for the game, etc. but it still won't work... This is my computer specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1200 Mhz
RAM: 512 mb DDRAM
GPU: PalitDaytona GeForce 4 Ti4200 128 mb
Sound Card: Zoltrix Nightingale Pro 6 LITE Version
OS: Windows XP Professional Edition

Don't ask about the drivers, I already have the latest : And besides it worked before i tinkered with the game hehe...

PLEASE HELP MEEEEEEEEE

AARGHHH... I have almost the same problem.
Game played fine until I tried to do some modding... then at some point I heard weird static sound in game and decided to restart it. AND IT WON't START AGAIN. I see the movies fine and after the logo i get booted to desktop with the message "Frelancer has encountered a problem module common.dll" or something like that! I tried almost everything:

- re-installing game
- re-installing sound drivers
- re-installing dx9
- uninstalling and re-installing those freaking mp3 codecs (as mentioned in the sticky thread here).

Nothing helps.

My specs:
------------------
p4 2.4
GF4 ti4200 128Mb
512 mb ram
SB. LIve
WinXp Home Sp1

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Holly god .. I FIXED IT... using deductive method. (eliminating all impossible whatever remains, however improbable, will be the cause :p )

It was a "corrupted" save game. I didn't remove save games during re-installation so that's why it didn't fix it. Apparently, the game writes autosave when you engage into fight or something and when you make changes (aka mod) this save causes trouble upon start up. So I deleted Restart.fl and AutoSave.fl and everything is fine again. phew.

+++edit

well, not completely fine. I still get the static noise on occasion, usually after firing weapons or after explosions. Anybody has a rememdy for that?

The static is due to SBLive! drivers. Ypu probably have XP/2000.

I've had the same problem and it went away after installing an OLDER set of drivers. Run a search on this forum on static and you should pick up the thread and the link to the file

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at Tan Hauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die.

I would if someone would be kind enough to enable search function
If someone has the link to the file, please post it.

(so far I kinda fixed the static problem by setting harware acceleration to full. Dunno if it's just a coincidence)
