"Kill Engine" ...doens''t work.

Right now "Kill Engine" is bound to Z, but it doesn't work. I was under the impression that when flying normally, you cut the engine and still move at this speed. Which is something I would like to use, but my key isn't working. Everytime I push Z, nothing happens. Is there a specific time when I need to push it? Does it ony work in Cruise or something?

Check if you're on autopilot. You need to be in normal (not cruise) freeflight.

It's a toggle, btw.

Yes, it is a toggle. Pressing strafe or hitting accelerate seems to turn the engine back on, and pressing Z again will also.

This was confusing me too, because the graphic on the 3rd person view, which is the default, doesnt change to indicate your engine is cut. But it does work.

Try this, hit Z and then do a 180degree dive. Your speed should go from 79 to neg79, indicating you are still traveling the same direction and speed you were prior to cutting your engines, but you are just facing another direction.

This game really could have used some kind of radar that would display contacts relative to your ship beyond the arrows that appear on the edge of the monitor.

Damn! i should've rtfm.. kill engine works like.. well like all stuff worked in the super game independance wars 2 (never even noticed that there was a #1 ..was there?). now the game got new life to me!
i still roxxor the universe with my souped up dagger.. anything higher then a light fighter is for chickens.. and panzer generals!

at least since i can't even show my nose in the nazi regions, my stiletto went out a bit hard there before i tuned down to a dagger again

there's no reason to kill yourself.. as long as you can make others suffer

I've had problem with engine kill, too. Turned out my problem was related to my mouse wheel. If you're using mouse wheel, too, check this post in the general forum. Look for my followup toward the bottom of the thread.
