Can''t even start the game!

The place to ask for technical help with running the demo or the full game...

Could be a virus. Run an anti-virus program (which everyone should do after downloading.) Then if not working re-install windows without formatting. Could be a bad file.

Then if still having same problem try clsoing all programs expect explorer (Win 98 users) and make sure its not the ram. Run scandisk after that if unsuccesful and then comeback to me.

I ran an anti-virus program, there were absolutely NO infected files. then i did a scandisk. it found errors and fixed them all. but im still haveing the same problem!

"Freelancer has cause an error in <unknown>"
"Freelancer will now close"

ok uninstall and re-download the demo again. Then scandisk and then install the demo again. If that does not work try getting a different demo from a magizine.

Alright this is really startin to piss me off. I downloaded the setup.exe file from over 4 locations! and i still have the same problem!

Werid. Make sure Hardware Acceleration is at full capicity.

try going into dxsetup and disable you directsound setting just turn the slide thingy all the way to the left. then go to your audio codec setting in system manager and find the fruonhoffer codec and make it the first codec the system will try, It could also be your soundcard drivers, vid drivers.

I have the the full version of Freelancer and windows ME and get the same error

Tried to run ScanDisk or Norton Disk Doctor or something like those over your harddisk? Had the same problem, and that worked for me.
