you do have dx9 installed yes?

I had been having lots of lockup issues while playing. My fix turned out to be I was still using an old PS.

Open your case, see if your power supply has a label on the side that lists how much power it's rated at, and how many Amp's it supplies to the various sections. My old PS was a 300w unit with 30A's to the 5v rail. My new one is 350w, with 35A's to the 5v rail.

This fixed my issues. check yours for the same. Also, make sure you don't have things like Anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering on at the start since you're having these issues. Shutdown any other programs you have running, virus scanners etc.

Hi!!

Yes, I have dx9 installed, and my powersupply is ok. Tried turning down all hardware accelaration, but then the game wouldn't start because it could not find any 3d graphics card I have tried every possible driver for my card, but still the same, i can see the first introvideo (microsoft games...)and when the digital anvil video starts, the game locks up, and stops responding...

if nothing else you could try disabling the startup movies

Freelancer.ini has these lines

[Startup
movie_file = movies\MGS_Logo_Final.wmv
movie_file = movies\DA_Logo_Final.wmv
movie_file = movies\FL_Intro.wmv

if removing those allows the game to start, then it could be something with your Windows Media drivers... you could try clicking on those files and see if the normal Windows Media Player can view them.

First off your power supply should have abousoultey no part to play in the game and that maybe your connection was not in all the way.

Second you should be able to skip the movies by pressing the space bar or return quickly. If not try deleting them but then usually the game wont start again.

Thrid turn off any anti virus protections. If your on a 24 hook-up plug out your connection and uninstall then re-install.

Then if all hope fails look around the fl help file (it should have one) and see if your cpu etc is compatible.

Then go ahead and contact ms if all hope utterly fails.

Thanks pci and Doyler...
Deleting the movies from the ini file did the trick...
