3d Sound

Does anyone find that by disabling 3d Sound, the sound effects are a bit more vibrant? I had it enabled at first and noticed that the sound effects were kind of pale -- they didn't stand out much. When I fire my cannons, I want to hear it above everything else. Then, when I disabled it, it seemed to enhance the sound effects a bit.

Anyone know how to improve on that even more? Btw, I'm using a Soundblaster Audigy Gamer.

I noticed the same thing on my soundblaster 1024 live however i turned it back on.I'm using a headset normally. My main thing was the voices were a bit faint and drowned out but twiddling with my audio hq sound settings seems to have cured that so i have left it on as per my earlier thread '3dsound noob question' the answer i got was 3d ssound is used for audio queues in the game for events etc
