Freelancer freezes at random .. how to fix?

The place to ask for technical help with running the demo or the full game...

I think you need to specefy your problem a bit more. Is to many different problems in here.

For first, does your computer really lock up, or is it just the game that freezes?

For my sake the game freezes for mabye 10 - 15 sec, and during that time the computer does not answer to my command. However I had winamp running in the background and it kept on playing like there was no tomorrow. And after 1- 15 sec the screen flashes and then the game is back up. This happens very randomly. I've been trying to find the source of the problem by tracking down the sercumstances when it happens. But it is to random, happens in action, in dialoges, in videos in cruise and so on.

And since I have no problem with NO other game I'm pretty sure this is software related. I find it VERY suspicious that the PSU would be to weak to play one sertain game.

That dude that had problems with it didnt just have it with this game, but all games more or less. It was not a problem with this game, it was a problem with his computer configuration.

However, I've been suspicious at my Creative Live! Card for some time, I would not be suprised to find that a sertain driver from creative does not work to well together with this game. I think tough that if MS and Creative work together they will have no problem fixing the issue. Just a weird thing that it is always with creative cards that has those issues.

I'm gonna try to fix my problem now anyway, been to busy to do it before. I'm gonna first re install the game, then try new drivers to the sound card.

Good luck to the rest of you. =)

I have submitted two request for service to Microsoft (It is like pulling teeth). I even let them scan my system. Of course the first response was DO YOU HAVE THE LATEST VIDEO AND SOUND DRIVERS? Of course I do!!!!!!!!! Then they wanted me to disable hardware sound accleration. None of this has worked so far. I also reinstalled direct X 9. I have come to the conclusion that they do not know what is wrong yet. Apparently this game was not yet ready to ship. But I guess that has not stopped Microsoft before (I.E. Combat flight Sim 3). I will post any fixes that actually do work but don't hold your breath. This looks like it may take them awhile to fix.

First microsoft response, disable your sound card, check to see how long the game works with the sound card disabled. They noted this is not a permanent fix. Well I hope it is not a permanent fix or I am taking the game back. WE NEED A PATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
