Sound issues-faint crackling & static

Well, done some reading and some searching and some messing about.

Apperntly this is a problem with SB cards. From what i read on some site it's the ac97 codec creative uses for the front speakers, this codec is has more noise and more crackling then the ac3 codec used for the rear speakers.

Well i found alternate drivers for the card from a bunch called KX from Russia. Their driver removed the crackling, but i DOES NOT support D3D in hardware, only in software.

So does anyone know if there are other "non offical" drivers written by others for the SBLive!?

The software solution realy hurts the game as the game drops frame when there are alot of things going on+speech

I tried that with my audigy 2 card and it said I didn't have any sound blaster live products, so I'm off to look for a similar fix for the A2.

How'd you come across that file? When I tried it wanted me to use an Auto update dealy, which I did, and I got an update but it didn't fix anything.

Creative's driver support has really gone down to the crapper in the last few years. Manually downloading the latest drivers is recommended.

Whenever I use the latest drivers, my computer gets the BSOD.

Did some hunting on google, the only way i usually resolve my hardware issues.

Fact is i even found some help <gasp> on comp.ibm.pc.games.space-sim

Thats where i found a post on the same problem with FL i had and with the KX fix. But the creative file was apperntly made for the SBLive! Value (which i have) and totally removed any noise from the sound.

Guess it's time to think about getting a better sound card. Creative is getting to be a pain.
