Sound fading

The place to ask for technical help with running the demo or the full game...

Sound fading

Downloaded the demo and I have only one problem: the music and voice (NOT Effect's Sound: I still hear the guns) have faded. I remember a topic in FL General about sound fixes but alas, when I need it I can't find it. Please help me Oh-Big-One, you're my only hope .

This looks like a good thread to report my findings.

I just alt tab'ed from the demo after hearing sounds that previously weren't there. I installed the game with win98 SE and there were gaps in sound...for instance that whole scene with Trent on the landing pad....complete silence.

BUT...I then started it up on Win XP, and the sound works great. I haven't gotten any further, but I'm confident that the rest will be like that. I think it works because I'm using another OS, so the demo hadn't tampered with the codecs...or whatever it does.

Unfortunately, if you switch to another OS you'll have to start over cause the saved games won't be there...something about how it works. Though if you switch back, the old saves will be available (I assume).

Ok. This is wierd: some more things about the problem:
1) It happens after 30-40 mins of gameplay
2) When I quit the game (after I get the sound fading) I get no sound in Windows
3) As I said, the gunshot sound stays

Also, I installed an Nvidia driver on my video card (I had one by Hercules before) and the problem seems to go!
