Is it that Radeon problem that won''t fix?

The place to ask for technical help with running the demo or the full game...

Is it that Radeon problem that won''t fix?

Have an ATI RADEON 9500 PRO.

Other stats:
2.5 GHz P4
ASUS MB 533 FSB
512 MB RAM SD DDR 2700
CREATIVE AUDIGY GAMER
XP PRO

Turned detail down to below half, still problem exists where game slows terribly when lots of text is on-screen.

In addition, after about 1 hour of play, the space flight got REAAALLLY slow, you know that nice sort of "frame *pause frame *pause thing.

Soooo....the only thing I can think of is when I installed the demo, it said "FREELANCER DEMO DOES NOT RECOGNIZE YOUR VIDEO CARD". I thought this was just the RADEON thing. Maybe not.

I've downloaded all the latest ATI drivers, Dx 9 ( drivers, can't think of anything else.

Really odd, since all my other games seem to find my card not problem. Had Morrowind running maxed out and worked great.

Any thoughts, advice, smacks upside the head for missing soimething obvious appreciated. Anyway to force the demo to recognize my card? Thanks all.

Check the forum before you post!

Turn down the video acceleration a notch. Its a driver issue. The fix is in the readme.

Its been posted before but to fix your problem, go to your troubleshooting tab in the driver settings and bump down the hardware acceleration down one. Worked wonders for my 9700 Pro.

Sorry EB, Clutch, I guess I'm just being a complete idiot, lack of sleep does that.......but......I still can't find exactly where you get the troubleshoot TAB to pop up, so I can turn the acceleration down.

I thought that was what i was doing when I read the forum and readme and told me to turn the hardware acceleration down.

So what I am doing right now, is going to:

MAIN MENU
PERFORMANCE
and dropping the levels of everything.

I know this is not what was specified, but I really can't find the the
Settings\Control Panel\Display\Settings\Advanced path.

So, I'm killing myself on this, and killing you probably more, but how do I get there?

Right, I figured out my basic lack of understanding being that it was taking about my XP settings.

I was going nuts trying to find the settings within the demo code.

SOMEONE PLEASE SHOOT ME.

SORRY ALL. PLEASE CLOSE DELETE AND WIPE THIS THREAD FROM THE FACE OF THE EARTH.

I can't blieve I just spent over an hour trying to figure this out.

Thanks for your understanding EB, Clutch.
