strange crashing problemb

As soon as a click "new game" the program will crash to the desktop contenue to play sound for about a minute then give me an unresponding program message. However if i try to play a multiplayer game it will load just fine. Iv deleted and reinstalled 2 times. i have an imb t42p notebook with a 7500 ATI mobility card and 1 gb of ram
If anyone has any suggestions id greatly apriciate it. thanks

If you haven't already tried this
try deleting all the files in your Freelancer saved game folder.
If you don't know where your Freelancer saved games folder is...
By default when you install Freelancer it makes a folder in
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\My Documents\My Games\Freelancer
