can''t start/uninstall the game

FL ran just fine for awhile. All of a sudden I tried to start it this morning and it says
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application." Uninstall won't work either. It just doesn't start up at all. I tried a bunch of stuff like deleting save games and running the QuickFix patch, but to no avail. It'd be a pain in the ass to try and uninstall the game manually.

backup your My Documents/My Games/Freelancer folder and then reinstall the game. Once it's reinstalled you should be able to uninstall it if you still wish to.

You don't have to uninstall Freelancer... You can just delete your Freelancer folder and then reinstall Freelancer.
The Freelancer folder is located at:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer
Deleting the Freelancer folder will not cause any problems... I do it all the time and then install Freelancer from the CD.
I also install the Freelancer SDK files because I test a lot of MOD's.

I've lost the id code that let's me get back on the servers I play on. Then my motherboard went bad. I still have the hard drive, is the code stuck in a file somewhere>?
