Suddenly losing server

Hi

Hoping someone can help me out,

until thursday i had been playing MP on a cracking server (colourselite) and having a great time.

However, a console message came up about 'testing serverside anti-cheat software' and something about lag etc, so i logged off and went to make a cuppa.

Since then i havent been able to logon, i can still see the server on global, but double-clicking gives the timeout message. Using the direct connect utility does not help..i dont use mods other than the servers of course.

The sysadmin has assured me im not 'banned' and has deleted my account info from the server in case it was corrupt, i can connect to all the other servers on the global list with no problem and ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

Can anyone offer anything else to try?.
I think the problem is tied to my MP id but when i uninstall the game it remembers the ID instead of generating a new one, is there a way around that?. Would buying a new CD fix it?.

Should i download any patches?..

Anyway sorry for so many questions, really fustrating to get hooked and then get cut off.. for my son and i its a nightly ritual now to fight over the mouse control ;p

Thanks
Trev

Hi Trev,

It seems to me that the issue is linked with the MP id, and you cant get rid of it.
If you reinstall Freelancer, it will keep your exisiting MPid anyway.

What you need to do is uninstall FL, now on the options to uninstall it has boxes like "remove saved games" and stuff, you need to make sure you tick these as default is not to delete.

Then reboot your pc, then reinstall FL.
You will know if you have done it correctly when you go to MP, it will stop and give you a new MPID when you go online. If it doesnt, you have not fully uninstalled the game (remember the tick boxes you have to click)

Good luck

Hi strail,

finally got a new ID, by creating a new profile in winxp.
Didnt fix it sadly

Its been suggested that somehow port 2032 might be blocked
for the colourselite server..any idea how id check that?

So wierd to be working one minute and broken the next, JUST for
that server

Hi,

Uhm I dont know about the port id, usually its 2302 for the server.
Im not sure if you have tried the direct route using the port number, anyway, for the purposes of my server - The Void Server The connection is this:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe" -s217.207.194.210:2302

If you add the servers ip instead of mine in the "target field" of the shortcut to Freelancer, this might work. Notice the colon with the port number 2302 on. This I am sure will be the same port number for colours elite.

Fixed it ;p

Info for people who might have this problem in future.

The problem was with the IP address of things, to fix, i changed the MAC address of my card, forcing the DHCP to change my assigned IP (normally takes weeks).

Anyway thanks for trying to help M8 i do appreciate it, and ill see you on void, just started playing there ;p
