stupid rheinlanders won''t attack

ok, new to the game, figure this is a bug, so here goes

I'm going through mission 3 of the storyline, just escorted the freighters to research station willard, and I'm on my way back...

lo and behold, rheinlander valkeries blocking our path...one silent cutscene later (got the creative soundblaster live! half the sounds don't play bug) I'm sitting in front of three rheinlanders, and they're sitting completely still...

i've reloaded as far back as i can without losing about 2 hours of gametime, not once, not twice, but three times, played through the battle where I have to defend the freighters so many times I actually have a strategy for an easy first kill, and still the stupid rheinlanders won't attack.

applied the 1.1 patch but that didn't do jack

anyone else ever had this problem? if so, how do i freakin fix it?

The patch is only for MP, not SP. Are you running any Mods? Does Juni go through her whole speech and the cut scene finish? A little more info would help. It sounds a little familiar to me.

I get the cutscene in which juni is supposed to make a speech, but apparently since i have the sound card bug its not triggering the rheinlanders to fight...

found a solution that involves ramming the ships until they blow up, but its slow going and the game crashed when the 3rd ship had 1/2 life left, and I really don't wanna have to do it again.

up to this point this has been a friggin awesome game, and i really don't want this to slow my enjoyment of it to the point that i say f*** it

any help would be awesome...

it might be your video card driver, i had a very annoying time at a further part of the game with rheinlend "abilities" (trying not to spoil) after i updated my 3d or video driver (i dont know which) the game played fine

Shoot them. That happened with me, i think.... And i shot them, they turned to hostlie, and started shooting at me. I blew them to pieces.
Really small pieces.
