well,i like to format my system harddrive & reinstall windows every few months anyway,if you have a windows disk(i.e. not one of the "windows disks" that come with computers,these are incomplete copies redistributed by computer makers)you should be considering that next.but i have one last idea,go into your control panel/system/device manager and scan down to the audio part,right click and disable everything under that category.if your crash is caused by an audio problem this should fix it,freelancer will say 'no audio detected' blah blah blah,and ask to continue.if that is it then obviously you need to reinstall your sound drivers.but i would also say it sounds like you need a clean reinstall of your OS because if its acting weird now it could start acting funky installing and using other software too....in fact reinstalling XP every 6 months should be recommended maintenance lol.hoping this helps
