Back to the windows....

I installed the game after a long period of not playing it. Installation goes fine...

It gets to the title screen, goes black (as it usually does when it goes to the menu screen...) and then brings me back to windows.

I've uninstalled, reinstalled, tried all different install options, diff partitions, cracked it, patched it and formatted... nothing.

IT WON'T PLAY

any ideas?

(PS - not very good with computers. please break down any lingo/acronyms to good ol' caveman talk so I can have a chance at fixing the problem)

What graphics card do you have? And also - what version of Direct X have you got? (goto start menu, click on the 'run' icon - and type in dxdiag and hit enter. It will then check your system, what is certified (drivers) - and also tell you which version you have installed.

It goes without saying that Save games from any previous installation are gone... but check anyway - my documents/my games/freelancer/accts/ - delete anything in there..

Found a HUGE amount of savegame files, (all mod related) deleted them all and it worked like a charm.

Thanks for the help, sorry 'bout cluttering up the forum with another dumb question
