Trouble with the SP campaign

I recently decided I'd play Freelancer again..

Anyway, my trouble is pretty simple - I'm at the point during the campaign when you're asking to go to the Cambridge system.

I get to the Cambridge gate, warp through it and.. boom, my entire system reboots. If I run the OpenSP mod, I can "zone" into Cambridge just fine, it's only during the campaign that it does this and I'm at a complete loss. I even tried to use the Savegame editor to place myself in cambridge at a planet. Second I undock, it reboots.

There are absolutely no hardware issues with this PC that any bit of diag/benchmark software I can dig up has found (memtest86+, sisoft sandra, etc). This is also the only game that does this, which leaves me that much more baffled.

Any thoughts?

it seems there might be some encounter when you come out in cambridge (i cant remember if there was) and the files for that are corrupted, try backing up your saved game, then reinstalling FL

FL is on it's fourth fresh install

Sorry, does your whole computer reboot, or does the game just crash?

If its your computer, it is positively an issue with drivers/hardware/sound etc. Try disabling 3D sound in the options menu, and see what happens...

Apart from that, what are you running it on?

Similar Problem does this ring a bell Route to spruage? I disabled 3d sound but still the same happens the loading screen freezes when juni tells you to dock on spruage after the rhienland Ships have been destroyed oh ya same this this is my fourth Reinstallation of FL

Whole machine reboots.

I'd go for the "It's a problem with my drivers/hardware" if the issue wasn't solidly planted to this game only, but that doesn't fit the bill either. I've tried it with sound/music off, 3d sound disabled, newer drivers, older drivers..anything I could think of.

It does this -only- during the SP campaign during the first trip into the Cambridge system. Sorry for the late reply, I've been out of town

Quick question are you running an ASUS Nforce motherboard if so try upgrading to latest Bios using the Asus Live update and do not use the NForce 5.1 unified driver goto the 4.x Friend had identical prob same system and result with an asus a7n8x-x this was the fix for him hope this helps

same sorry for late reply but no one would so

anyway my disk isn't screwed
so that isn't the problema game is on six reinstallation I've ben so annoyed at this problem that i stop playing entirely for awhile and am still for a solution 3d sound
dosen't help either
