Cruise Speed crashes game on new PC

I've upgraded my hardware and system to XP Home with Security Pack 2, and now the game (and Windows) crashes whenever I activate cruise speed.

What can I do?

Try disabling 3D sound* - I don't know if this will actually work, but you never know. Worth a shot!

*options screen when you first start up game, sound menu - select box for 3D sound so that no green tick is in it.

Make sure you've got the latest drivers for everything. I don't know what you updated, but a reinstall might also be in order.
