Crashes with black screen

I just got a new machine with a 6600GT/ AMD64 3500 and freelancer keeps crashing after a short amont of time with a black screen? This time varies from a few seconds to a few mins but is never without exception.

Has anybody else had this problem and how did u resolve it?

Any help much appreciated.

I've got a 6600GT... and no problems at all.

My other system specs are quite a bit lower than yours- I run a Athlon 2800+ with a gig of 2700DDR, with WinXP Pro.

I'd start by checking your graphics settings- I have AA set to 2X, and have the other settings turned off (anisotropic filtering, for example), for best FPS in CS:S and other games. I'm also running nVidia's latest beta drivers, which resolved a lot've issues I'd been having with other applications.

Lastly... make sure your OS is fully-upgraded, especially DirectX. 9.0c was a bunch've patches, and many of them affect MS games, among others.
