Sound Problems!

Hi all

I've SEARCHED the forums but cannot find my answer!

I get about 80% of the sound, things seem to be missing or cut out of my game:

example
When i take off i get a 50/50 chance that the "Ship takeing off" sound plays, or when the station comms officer clears me for land/take off, i see the man talking the animation but no sound!
another example is the SP Storyline
Sometimes when the characters i talking i cannot hear them sound is dead, then all of a sudden i can hear them!!!!

My speakers r on by the way!

I've reinstalled freelancer multi-times and to different directories but still nothing!
I know im missing sound because my frenid has the game.

I have tested in the dxdiag but that didnt solve anything!

I have
Windows XP Service pack 1 2002 edition
Nvidia Ti 4000
Intel(R)
Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.53GHz
2.52 GHz
512 MB of RAM

Thx in advance
Luke

Thx!

I tryed 1 approach with codecs/remove and installing different ones but now the reversed had happended, i can hear what i couldn't hear before but cant hear other stuff i followed these instructions:

Now, as for the sound fix, ElectricBrain and the ReadMe file are indeed correct - In order to get back full sound, all you need to do is remove every trace of l3codecp.acm from your hard disk and your registry, and reinstall the MS version of the Fraunhofer IIS MP3 codec, as included on the Freelancer CD. So far so good, I did that and got sound back.

removed this file l3codecp.acm + Another in the readme but now my windows Media player screwed up!

Really weird too, because a few months ago it worked perfectly evry time!
In case this helps, i've a PIII 1000MHz, 256 RAM and Windows ME.

Please help me, sombody!
