Jumpgate Crashing

Just registered to ask for some help with Freelancer. Did a search on google and the forums and could not find much info.

I just got myself a new computer and I decided to install every single I own. (Going from a 20 gb harddrive to 200 gb does that to you) I was trying out Freelancer and everything was fine, no sound problems! However, when I go into the jumpgates to enter a new system, it gets past the loading screen and then restarts my entire computer.

Specs:
AMD 3200+ (2.2 ghz)
Windows XP Servive pack 2
1 gig ram
Radeon 9800 + with the latest official ATI drivers

I believe thats all. Hoping someone has a solution, could use the help.

Youch, you got direct X up to date and all? Unfort, I do not know what it could possibly be, never really heard of a solution for your issue - although someone else seemed to suffer likewise.....fraid I cannot help out, but hopefully someone else will happen upon this thread

*edit* I would also try an uninstall followed by a reinstall as well..

Direct X is up-to-date. Tried the uninstall and install and the problem still persists.....

UPDATE: I was tickering around the menus and after a few tries, I think I have found something that fixed the crashes. I disabled the 3D sound option and now I am able to use the jumpgates without my computer restarting.

Gonna play for a few more hours and abuse the jumpgates to see if the 3d sound was causing the crash but so far so good. Thank you Chips for trying to help. Now we know what might actually be causing it
