I would look into your network equipment, router and so forth first. Easyest, is to unplug the power sources to them and then back in to reset them.

Such as (but not limited to)

What version of WiFi are we talking about?
What old firewalls are involved since there are no "new" ones?
Why is your thought process for not using SP2?
Have you tried using the switch user mode offered in WinXP to see if the other profile can connect?
What are some of the names of the compenents being used?
Can the comp with the server even see the server at all when trying to connect with a client?

i reformated mt hard drive. affter that it stoped working. the wifi is 802.11b. and dont have sp2 is cuz i ordered it and i still ave not gotin the disk and i cant get it form the net cuz i have 56k and dont wish to stay there for hours. any other things you what to know.

My first guess would be the Direct X version needs to be higher than what's installed on a reformat, that's for sure. Older versions cause a lot of connecting issues. That won't take near as long to download than the SP2, but being that you're on 56 k I suspect there are a LOT of drivers that need to be updated. I would seriously take the time to update everything you can first then try to run FL. THere's a great program called AIDA32 that should help you in your quest to update drivers for all components on your puter.

well most of my drivers ar up to date. me and one of my freands have the same computer basicly and he gives uptodate drivers to me. the gpu i have is a radeon 9800 pro with 128 megs of ram. the computer can play freelancer just fine. my beachmarks come in at around 40-70fps. have drectx 9b. the same one i had when it did work. i opened my computer to make sure its not the lan card unseated. i reconeced it and still nothing. i used a wire that will work on my onbord lan still nothing. i reconfigerd my lan network. still nothing. i can see all my folders on the other computers and on my computer and i can get onto the internet but i cant get the damn lan to work. i have only one partion on my computer just the "c" drive so its not my HD. whats wrong with my computer.
o i got empire eath and age of empires to work o yea. but freelancer is still being gay.

ok people i fixed it. turns out the bios had tured off and type of lan. i just turned it on and wala it know works. thanx for all your guys help.
