Game Shuts down on brand new machine help!!!

Hey guys! im new to the fl Universe got a new machine delivered yesterday and installed freelancer, at least once every mission the game or something causes the monitor to blank out, followed by the shutting down and restarting of the computer, sometimes with the sticking or repetetive playback of the sound at the time of the shutdown, this is frustrating coz i have to keep going back into the game. tonite it has shutdown 7 times on me! and im getting rather annoyed!!!
Im using windows xp, with audigy 2 Zs Platinum card and ATI Radeon 9800pro
Can anyone help me out with sum technical advice?
Cheers

Yes, if you can sort out that problem PLEASE tell me as well.

You will find it also affects:

Total War
X2
Medal of Honour
Call of Duty

Do you have the latest drivers installed? I have been on at ATI help for some time, and they are useless! They keep sending me a standard email reply which is useless!

Basically - its the card (graphics) as i also have a raddy 9800 pro - and i get error messages from the 'VPU recover' or somethign - which has to restart the graphics driver as it sticks. Mine also:

Freezes
Freezes whilst playing sound loop
Turns off the monitor
Crashes and reboots computer

Worst one i had involved the apparent 'wiping' of my bios - but it didn't.

ATI support keep responding with exactly the same emails, even though I have now filed well over 20 error reports (ones generated and emailed to their email address by their own software).

Seriously - if I find a cure, I will let you know......if you find a cure - let me know!
