Service Pack 2 issue?

The place to ask for technical help with running the demo or the full game...

Post Mon Oct 18, 2004 12:57 pm

i love how those "its not the download, its you" people say that.

Because everything on my computer is legal, including the games in question.

I've tried uninstalling, re-installing, kicking.

Same error.

Kernal error.

never got it before SP2

got it after SP2

Oh gee look, its a hypothesis that's been pretty much tested.

ITS SP2.

Anyway if anyone can direct me to that list of games they put out saying "it wont work" then please tell me.

Your problem is the operating system...not the SP2 patch. The only thing it did was identify resident issues with incompatable software/hardware. Please do not attempt to blame a "patch" on computer related issues. Kernal errors are 99.99% of the time indicators of operating system problems.

As a helper, I might suggest trying out XP Advisor downloadable (free) from MIcrosoft's site. It will tell you exactly what is causing your problems. If you run that program I guarantee there will be issues that need to be addressed. If for some unknown reason you can not run XP ADvisor, then check out the Windows XP catalog for other possible conflict both hardware and software related.

Well Heretic - Stinger has provided you with some links there to try and sort this out. If you can't - well, you are sure its SP2, and you own a copy of FL.........so go ask their support then? If your not satisfied/won't accept the suggestions here, then ask the people who you paid for the game to help?

There is a link on the mainpage to the Freelancer site - which should include contact/support contact information.

Let us know what solves it, because then we can keep a mini 'database' of problems here for the next person with an issue

EVeryone here who said it was Service pack 2
and everyone here who said it was my hardware

They both were right.

Rofl you all are going to love this...apparently Service Pack 2 screws up alot of drivers. NO lie, so yeah it was a double whammy. Freelancer works again though. I just had to uninstall Service Pack 2.
