I got this same message when I upgraded from a GeForce3 card to a GeForce FX 5600. If the video card you have is recent, powerful and supports DirectX9 you should be able to safely ignore that warning. The list Finalday kindly provides shows examples of video cards which are NOT powerful or recent and may have passed their prime (if they ever HAD a prime time!).

Remember too that you'll get a warning message when your drivers are old. Try updating those if you haven't already, and that will solve that issue, if that's the case. Hope that helps.

yep, if you have a new card, you can 'disregard' the message, because there is not alot you can do anyway in all honesty. If you keep seeing that box though -there should eb a little 'tick box' on it that says 'do not show this message again'. Select that..........and it shouldn't appear anymore on start up.
