Multiplayer Not Working

I have completed the single player game and now I want to play multiplayer, and I cannot play multiplayer, I select multiplayer and then select interenet and then I come to the server list and it says connecting to global server, does anyone know how to solve this. I have windows xp and I have disabled all firewalls including xp's new built in one and the problem still persists. I fear I may know the cause of this problem, my dsl router, if anyone has enough techincall expertese to work around this I would be very gratefull.

Yes I am getting same problem I think it is something to do with a Sec Patch i put on WinXP because before that I could connect OK.

That patch must have blocked the port freelancer uses.

Yea it figures, just like microsoft to create an OS that won't let their own game work.

Blimey - typical - rather than looking for a solution, just moan instead. They made XP have a firewall because people are so incompetant that they cannot be trusted to look after their own computers!!

You will have to grant the Freelancer.exe file access to the net. Its that simple.

Just for you two - this comprises of....................

Start button
Click on CONTROL PANEL
DOUBLE Click on WINDOWS FIREWALL
Click on the EXCEPTIONS tab
Click on ADD PROGRAM
Click on BROWSE
Navigate to Freelancer EXE folder which contains the Freelancer.exe
Select the Freelancer.exe file and click on OKAY.
See its been added to the allowed list
Apply changes and exit.

Well, thank you for the effort, but unfortuanetly firewalls are not my issue, I stated in my original post that I had disabled my firewall temporarily to see if Freelancer would work then, what do you suggest now?
