FLServer Crash

I have had FL for about a month. I used the server and everyhting was fine. But then last week FLServer wouldn't let me connect and would cracsh soon after I tried. So I reintalled and got the SDK, and tried everythitng I could think of and it still won't llet me connect to my own server. The error it gives me is that teh Server is down or I lost my connection. My friend can't connect either. I can't figure it out....

could be a firewall problem, have you tried disabling that for a minute or so just to see if you can connect?

or maybe it might be your freelancer.ini in the exe folder.
check to make sure that the line
hostname = fllistserver.zone.msn.com doesnt have a ';' in front of it

thats about all the things I can think of atm, good luck.

Have you tried with another server running freelancer? If you can connect then, that would mean it wasn't the software aspect, but a configuration problem.

Sounds like a corrupted character or characters. So with FLserver closed backup your player folder to a safe place and then delete each of your .FL files in your player folder from My Documents\My Games\Freelancer\Accts\MultiPlayer.

Next start the server and make a new character if all goes well you will join your server again. If so the character you have been trying to join from the backup is corrupted so you can't use it. So put back the backup folder making sure you delete the new character first and then try each in turn and delete each that causes a crash.

Have you got windows XP and service pack 2? You may need to give permissions to FL which enable internet access........but i kinda doubt it. Worth a look!
