Get a list of the components he has on his computer, ram, vid card, speed, ect. Can go to options screen and downplay the graphics some.

The quickest and easyest is to do a reboot. Dump anything in resident memory. Try the game. If still slow, Hit Ctrl/Alt/Del and see what is running in the background. Other programs can take resources away from the game. Try these first. Esq may be around later to help as well.

Did someone call?

First things first Chiz, make sure that your friend has the latest sound and graphics card drivers, and is also running Directx 9.0b or 9.0c. 9.0b can be installed from the FL CD and it might be a good idea to reinstall it just in case. Also, as Final suggested, use CTRL-ALT-DELETE to see what is running the background, and tell us if anything is using up a lot of run-time. Alternatively, you or your friend could take a screenshot of the C-A-D screen and post a link to it for us to examine. One possibility is that your friend's machine is infected by a worm like "Sasser", which consumes valuable resources. In any case, suggest the above to the applicable third party, and let us know what happens.
