Game issues

Whenever I run Freelancer, it always displays large text passages in Japanese. Similarily, server names only show up in Japanese. As well as that, the game always reverts back to the desktop when I start playing. I haven't found any options to change the language. Does anyone here know what I can do ?

"Echo Zulu Ops requesting Bouncy Bears Strike."
"Roger EZO, BB Carpet Bombers Inbound. Stay Tight and Let 'Em Hang, Boys."

Okay, not necessarily japanese. Weird symbols and some oriental language (A mix). Can't handle it. Do any of you guys have an idea on how I should handle this ?
