FL with Radeon 9600 XT

Hi ppl!

I got back at FL when I received my *drum roll* Radeon 9600 XT, but when I start it, it says it doesn't recognize my video card, although I do have the latest Catalyst 4.6 drivers installed. Indeed, it doesn't run nearly as smooth as it did before my GF4 Ti4400 exploded.

Any comments or suggestions? Thanks a lot.

I have a 9500 Pro, it says the same thing whenver I start the game for the first time, but I have no problems or slowdowns at all, even with AA and AF cranked up to full, and full detail. Impressive, really.

Anyways, I would suggest a driver cleaner program (get it from ATI.com or omegadrvers.net) and a good registry cleaner (RegCleaner is a good free one, download.com has it) if you've switched from the Nvidia to the ATI without basically reinstalling Windows. Be sure you clean all traces of the old drivers out, then install new ones. You also might want to try the Omega drivers from the above web site - they tend to give better FPS and quality than standard Catalysts, as well as being just as stable as Catalyst and they come with some nice tools. You also might want to back up your savegames and reinstall Freelancer so it can work better with the new ATI - not sure on this one though.

Thanks a lot, those are pretty good ideas, as I *did* switch from nvidia to ati. Nothing beats a good cleaning!
