cant update to ver 1.1

i bought my game on amazon.com and now im trying to update to version 1.1 and it says retail version of freelancer not installed and it doesnt let me update plz help!!!!!!!!!!

Unless you plan on using FL to play online, I wouldn't bother. It has been said by more than one person that 1.1 causes more problems than it fixes, especially in SP mode.

THE PATCH YOU REFER TO SHOULD REALLY BE REGARDED AS SERVER ONLY FOR 99.99999% OF PEOPLE
sorry for the caps but it can really $%^^£ the sp game and i cannot stress strongly enough that installing it is not a good idea (there are a couple of exceptions that i will not list)
it doesnt change the version number of the game either
