Can''t view Multiplayer ID

Everytime I try to view the multiplayer ID I get this error box:

Microsoft (R) HTML Application host has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.is so I can print the ID to save it I get an error.

If you were in the middle of something, the infomartion you were working on might be lost.

Please tell Microsoft about this Problem... blah blah blah Send Error Report.

Is there a secondary way to view this code? Or am I out of luck and have to restart my accounts online everytime I reinstall the game?

May I suggest a few things first:

I guess your trying to view it in the exe folder by mp_account_id file or whatever it is.

However, when you install the game, it GIVES you a MP id number (first installation/after an uninstall). Write that down, and keep it next time for further reference. Then when you have to reinstall once more you can enter it there.

BUT - try deleting the game (go to my programs/microsoft games/ and highlight that FL folder and then hit delete). Now insert your CD and let it install as usual, this will NOT generate a new MP id, and if it was just a problem with that install, then this should have fixed it.

Hi JKD Hammer! I remember you clearly from the old Browclops days. I played as [SDWasabe. :-)

Anyways, you can also go into the registry and find it there. Just do a search for Freelancer, and in the 1.0 folder you'll find 3 entries - one of those (I think the longest one) is your MP ID. I hope that is correct, I'm just going off memory because I'm posting from work and don't have my home computer in front of me.

I remember you Wasabe, now I play on excelcia mod and hal 2003 Evolutions servers. I thought I saw you on excelcia one day, if it wasn't you then somebody else with your name.. I go by Vae Victis in both places.

Either way thanks Chips and Wanabe for the help I managed to find the ID and wrote it down w/out having to delete the name, but I do wish I simply wrote it down first and avoided this trouble.
