I''m Back! With Issues...

Okay, I just got my 9600XT, woohoo!, and I am having problems running freelancer. I have ran it a couple of times already on this vid card but now it is just getting a screen flicker every time I boot up the game. (I have tried deleting all mods, autosaves, and have even re-installed the game).

I am getting this error in eventvwr if this helps:

The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: 7.

I get that each time I boot freelancer.

Don't know what is going on here...

EDIT: No emoticon in the subject line. 600+ posts and you don't know that yet?
To Stinger: I have been gone a very long time, but even then... I havent heard that rule before...

Ok, thanks for all your help...

I found a way to work around this issue as stated in a Microsoft help thing...

To work around this problem, disable the movies in the Freelancer.ini file. To disable the movies, follow these steps:
Locate the Freelancer.ini file in the following folder:drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE
Open the Freelancer.ini file.
Edit the [Startup section. Type a semicolon ( in front of the three lines that start with movie_file = --for example:
[Startup
;movie_file = movies\MGS_Logo_Final.wmv
;movie_file = movies\DA_Logo_Final.wmv
;movie_file = movies\FL_Intro.wmv

Sorry old chum, I haven't been ignoring you, I have just been considering your problem for the last couple of days. Next time, I'll put an "I'll think about it for you" sort of post in so that you kow that you are getting some attention .

Another one of my issues that I forgot to mention was that I had the Nimo Codec Pack installed on my computer... THis is a big no-no. Look in the readme under Audio troubleshooting for a fix.

Why does everyone keep installing all these codecs? They just cause problems and compatibility issues. I must be missing something.
