modmanager 1.2 problems

Ok, yesterday downloaded the modmanager 1.2 and i got no problems from it what so ever. Then when i tried it today, i get the message:
Error: problem activating 'Advanced Beam Weapon Mod' on test run
Error: Unable to find a dest in 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\data\fx\beam_effects.ini'

on pretty much every mod i try to activate. i reinstalled freelancer, reinstalled modmanager and it still wont work. any ideas?

Firstly, deactivate all mods, and then use the "Restore Backups" option under the "Tools" menu in FLMM. That should fix most problems. Also, what is the path you installed FL to? If it isn't the default (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer), then you may have to use the "Choose different Freelancer Directory" option under the "Options" menu in FLMM.

:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\data\fx\beam_effects.ini'

You might simply be missing this file, or then again it might have a space after it in the script that FLMM doesn't like (yep - empty spaces make a difference). Download the SDK (see EOA Players forum below editing) and install that. its a load of ini files that are decompressed and corrected - its kind of like a universal constant nowadays, as most mods are tested with that. If that gives you that error, then because its a REALLY old mod, just reinstall FL again (can install over existing version) and that will fix you up (or should).
