Multiplayer crashes

Hey all new here so please be gentle

I can play the single player no problem but when ever i buy anything *IE* a new ship all is fine until i click on the "buy" button then the game crashes. I have looked through microsofts data base and am unable to resolve my issue.. any ideas?

512 ram
WIN ME
1.0 gig cpu.

which crashes the game or the program or the connection to the server? i know you said game but just to be sure
what connection speed?
did you lose the money for the item you were buying?
