Failing memory?

Good morning. I got up today, went to run Freelancer and got this:
FREELANCER caused an invalid page fault in
module ~DF394B.TMP at 017f:0156d8a0.

I get this same exact message when I run the game with or without mods. Now before I run out to buy a new stick of RAM, I just want to put this out there: Is my RAM failing or is there some other issue that I'm overlooking? Other recent issues have included sluggish load times of my OS (win98) and on several games I've gotten a number of very slow response situations that has ended in more than one game crash.
Many thanks for the assistance.

Chances are, that it is your RAM, but it could be some other smaller, not so obvious problem. I would ask someone who spends more time working on computers and see what they have to say on the problem, so then atleast you know what the cause is.

"In space, no one can hear you yell YEHAW - Only your coworkers frowning at you."
