host fl server crashes

When I try to connect to a Lan fl server, it says unable to connect and crashes the game of the host. we both have 2.4ghz+ w/ mod manager v1.2 installed. Everything used to work but it seems that the problems started soon after installation of the Mod Manager. Uninstalled ModMan and "re-installed Freelancer". Still having the same problem.

i have had this problem. Check you aren't using mods and the patch. Unfortunatly i have this problem every time i use a lan server (i don't have the patch) and mods.

Right now, I am running on a fresh install. Lost about $8mil. I wish I would have known about the instability of the Mod Manager and Mods before I installed them. You know how long it took me to get $8mil legit? Anyways, I still have the Mods installed but everything remains deactivated until the come out with some real programming that can be trusted.

This sort of thing happens alot if your files aren't identical all multiplayer games freak out.

One thing to keep in mind is alway remember which order you apply mods and deactivate them in the same order.

Trying to fly in a ship that doesn't exist doesn't help (been there)

Setup whatever mods you want then copy the "freelancer\data"to your mates computers (saved games are held safe n sound in "my documents"

I heavily moded New York then discovered that no one in multiplayer could dock with out a damned "do you wish to report your incompitence to microsoft" box turning up. Once I got rid of a few things (gates, lanes, planets etc) it worked again.

If you apply a mod make sure it works in singleplayer (mission 3 flaged up problems in NY)

It's gonna be either a difference in files or a mod critter stuck in the pipes.

I have a similar problem, everytime i try to connect to the lan server from the host, the flserver program crashes

Get the default ini's thats in the downloads on this site, that will help but if the mod manager has left something over it shouldn't you will have to reinstall FL. Also some say you will also have to get rid of the Mod manager and clean the registery of any left over keys it has for it.

so for future reference if you plan on using mods and have plenty HD space backup the complete FL folder, so if this happens again its just a case of a copy paste.

It was just me on the server, I was the only one logging on

I fixed it, I just deleted the MP accounts on my computer

I think everyone should have told you to uninstall first, then reinstall. It would have saved you a lot of headaches. Those MP files would have been gone and you would have had a true fresh install.

I did uninstall, I just didnt tell it to delete the save games etc.

@pSYCHO

Sorry, this was the first indication that you did that. See how subtle wording can make all the difference in the world? Read your posts again, the word "uninstall" does not show up until your latest post. Reinstalling does not mean the same thing when troubleshooting software, never really has.

There I go again, splitting hairs.
