What connection type do you have? Do you have Freelancer patch installed v1.1? Do you have dynamic IP? Do you use any firewall? It is very hard to tell what the problem might be with so little information.

I have had this problem. You need to open a Lan server in order to play online.

me too... bah!!!

It just sits there with 'connecting to global server' no matter what I try. All other internet apps work fine.

I have a fast cable connection to a NIC ( not USB ), and my pc is on a home network with a Win2k Adv. Server as a domain controller. I just threw the patch on to see if it would help, to no avail. This happened before and the problem cleared up magically a few hours later. Hearing that Sebas can't connect for days has me worried though.

I am also wondering what he means by connecting to a LAN game. I would try putting FL on my server but I don't presently have the disk. Perhaps I will try to run FLserver and maybe that will clear things up? If it does I wll post here.

It seems many have the same problem. Try searching this forum. I'm sure there is a answer for this problem somewhere...

its because your port that u need open is blocked

don't ask anyone to tell you how to unblock it because not everyone has the same stuff as you

u actually have to e-mail or call ur firewall or routers help desk

I have tried everything short of a full reinstall of windows. Disabled second nic, reinstalled dx9, and service pack 4 (win2k). Ran the dxdiag, searched the forums for further solutions, pored over the MS site and the readme. I also uninstalled several MS hotfixes that I had recently put on. Also release/renewed my ip config from my ISP.

I ran ping, tracert, and pathping on www.flserver.com. It always bails on about the 12th hop. I also can't ping Elite server.

... so about this port, what port does FL use? I will search the forums, but I have yet to stumble across this info.

k.. found the ports.. but also found a good solution to this crap...

find and run the fldirectip.hta file, and connect directly. Call me a n00b but I didn't know you could do this. I popped in Browclops IP and a ? for the port and I'm in...
