how do i get a multiplayer id?

hey guys (yea im new) i got this game from a freind 2 weeks ago, and just now beat the darn thing, and am wantin to see what multiplayer is like, considering single player was pretty kickass. it says i need a multiplayer id, what is that? i even ran the program that came with the game and it says "unknown". so how do i get one? if someone could please tell me i would be very thankfull. this is a kickass game, and im sure the excitement would go up 10 fold for me in multiplayer.

Just join a multiplayer game and it automatically makes one for you

Install the new 1.1 patch from MS.

The 1.1 patch is causing many problems with Single Player though, so be careful.
