Firewall Prob?

Hi there.

I've recently gotten cable, and I suddenly find myself unable to talk to anybody EXCEPT the bartender.

Net setup is: 4 port Ethernet router plugged directly into the cable modem, and router has a firewall built in. I know, setting a proxy would be easier in some respects, but we really don't have the power available at this time. Too many 'puters in one room, ya know? : )

I remember that it was working fine about 12 hrs ago, as I did a few missions, and remember checking around the bar for better paying ones, but now I just can't do so. No text bubble when I point at anybody but the Bartender (nothing from clicking on them, either), and the bartender bubble is empty as well.

If someone can refresh my memory as to which ports need to be open for FL, I'll delve into the documentation and find out how to access/set the router firewall. Hopefully that's all I need to do. Other suggestions are welcome, though.

Edit:
This seems to ONLY be a problem on the Elite server, so obviously the firewall isn't the issue. To recount my actions just before leaving (when everything worked fine): I accepted a 215k (or so) mission on Leon base, then logged off (approx 8pm, 5/5 PST). I have no idea if the server reset between then and now (7:40am, 5/6, still PST, duh : P), but when I arrived, I no longer had a mission, and nobody but the bartender would talk to me (though he had nothing to say (empty bubble)). I tried another base, same results. I'd try another system, but Elite is down for a few more mins : P

I'll come back for another edit after it's back up again, and see if that fixes the probs. If not.... BUG REPORT!

Next Edit:
Server restart fixed it up just fine. Odd, though. Anyhow, spent the down time learning how to config. my router FW, and eliminated probs I had connecting to servers : )

if u think that it is ur firewall, just put it off, but unless ur firewall is built in ur modem or router modem (if ur using a router) u need to go to http://ur.ip.adress. src=smilies/icon_smile_big.gif width=15 height=15 border=0 align=middle> then fill in ur password (mostly just 'admin') and change what u think needs to be changed, u can shut down ur Firewall or open or block ports that requires for this or that game

not sure if this helps u, this is what i heard

Peace out,

I dont know which exact ports u need to open, but I think it is: 2401 and 2402, might be 2301 and 2302. Check the others Posts if it say something there, or read the Read Me! file in the FL directory, under Troubleshoting. (Cant read myself cuz I am at work, with no LF on this computer)

Good Luck with your Firewall.

The ports to open are 2302-2304. that should help u to sort the problem out.
